| Alternative names | tissue factor pathway inhibitor isoform a precursor, TFPI | |
| Background | Product description: This protein is a Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor that regulates the tissue factor (TF)-dependent pathway of blood coagulation. The coagulation process initiates with the formation of a factor VIIa-TF complex, which proteolytically activates additional proteases (factors IX and X) and ultimately leads to the formation of a fibrin clot. TFPI-alpha inhibits the activated factor X and VIIa-TF proteases in an autoregulatory loop. Alternative splicing of the mRNA results codes for TFPI-1-beta, which is a shorter form of the protein and contains a PGI-anchor. The mature protein of human TFPI-alpha, residues 29 - 304 was over-expressed in HEK293EBNA1 cells and purified to homogeneity. The protein has 2 potential N-linked glycosylation sites and 3 potential O-linked glycosylation sites. The protein contains a C-terminal hexahistidine tag. The calculated molecular weight without glycosylation of recombinant human TFPI-alpha, residues 29 - 304 including hexahistidine tag, is 33.3 kDa. Reference sequences: Swiss-prot P10646 |
