Background | Product description: This glycoprotein is an endothelial-specific type I membrane receptor that binds thrombin in a 1:1 stoichiometry. This binding results in the activation of protein C, which degrades coaggulation factors Va and VIIIa and reduces the amount of thrombin generated. Mutations in this gene are a cause of thromboembolic disease, also known as inherited thrombophilia. The mature protein of human thrombomodulin, residues 19 - 516 was over-expressed in HEK293EBNA1 cells and purified to homogeneity. The protein has 5 potential N-linked glycosylation sites and 2 potential O-linked glycosylation sites. The protein contains a N-terminal TEV protease cleavable hexahistidine tag. The calculated molecular weight without glycosylation of recombinant human thrombomodulin-(his-TEV)C, residues 19 - 516 including hexahistidine tag, is 54.9 kDa.
