Storage and Stability:Recombinant complement factor D should be stored at -80℃ (stable for at least 1 year). The protein is stored in 25 mM tris 150 mM NaCl pH 7.5. After thawing it should be stored in appropriate small aliquots at -20℃ or -80℃ (stable for at least 2 months).

| Background | Product description: This gene encodes a member of the S1, or chymotrypsin, family of serine peptidases. This protease catalyzes the cleavage of factor B, the rate-limiting step of the alternative pathway of complement activation. This protein also functions as an adipokine, a cell signaling protein secreted by adipocytes, which regulates insulin secretion in mice. Mutations in this gene underlie complement factor D deficiency, which is associated with recurrent bacterial meningitis infections in human patients. Residues 26-253 of human Complement factor D were cloned, the protein was over-expressed in HEK293EBNA1 cells and was purified to homogeneity.
