Background	2’-O-methylation is one of major RNA modifications found in some viral RNA and eukaryotic mRNA, rRNA, snRNA and piRNA. HEN1 methyltransferase homolog 1 (Arabidopsis), also known as HENMT1, is a small RNA 2'-O-methyltransferase that adds a 2'-O-methyl group at the 3'-end of mammalian piRNAs. The loss-of function study shows that HENMT1 is involved in piRNA metabolism.
