Background | N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) is one of the most abundant modified nucleosides found in some viral RNA and eukaryotic RNA including mRNA, tRNA, rRNA and lncRNA. It has been reported that m6A modification is involved in the regulation of mRNA export, stability and translation. YTH N(6)-methyladenosine RNA binding protein 2 (YTHDF2), functioning as m6A reader protein, is involved in methylation-dependent RNA degradation. YTHDF2 selectively binds to m6A-containing RNA through its C-terminal domain and its N-terminal domain is required for localization of the protein-m6A-containing RNA complex to P-body. |
