Covalent coupling type blocking agent
Blockmaster™ CE series, the unique water-soluble polymer proposed by JSR, has the end functional group that can covalently conjugate with the amino group on solid state. By suppressing the unspecific adsorption of protein, the ligands become easier to be activated, and therefore higher signal-to-noise-ratio can be achieved. It can use to replace BSA or use with BSA.

Polymer composition and functionality
The polyamine segment in polymer can be covalently coupled with the carboxyl group and anchored on the surface of material. On the other hand, the bearing cation can also promote the adsorption to the protein or surface material with negative charge via electrostatic interaction. Moreover, it can also be used as the dispersion stabilizer for the Colloidal gold with the cobvalent bonding of unshared electron pair.
THE MAIN COUPLING METHODS
The carboxyl groups on the surface of beads was activated to anchor the ligands including antibody. And Blockmaster™ CE510/CE210 was added to react with unreacted activated carboxyl groups to finish the blocking.

Applications
Prevention of protein adsorption / Signal enhancement
Using Blockmaster™ CE510/CE210 can promote the refolding of antibody and therefore the enhancement of signal can be expected since the activity of antibody is retained. Moreover the PEG segment in polymer can induce the exluded volume effect to achieve low noise.

Dispersion stability
The dispersity of magnetic beads which are coated with Blockmaster™ or BSA was confirmed that the aggregation of beads can be prevented after Blockmaster treatment.
